چکیده

we present a new renormalization-group calculation of the octagonal tiling excitation spectrum. Two new self-;imilar octagonal tilings are introduced, a triangle-Lite and a triangle-dan tiling, which are entangled with the standard rhombus-~quare tiling. The decimation procedure involved in the renormalization group calculation transforms each tiling enta a different one and goe; back tu the (rescaled) original tiling after three steps. The local and average density of state; are calculated. In the case of a Laplacian-like tight-binding Hamiltonian, on the standard rhombussquare octagonal tiling, Dur results compare reasonably well to numerically denved

Comment "Quantum spins and quasiperiodicity: a real space renormalization group approach".

We study the antiferromagnetic spin-1/2 Heisenberg model on a two-dimensional bipartite quasiperiodic structure, the octagonal tiling, the aperiodic equivalent of the square lattice for periodic systems. An approximate block spin renormalization scheme is described for this problem. The ground state energy and local staggered magnetizations for this system are calculated and compared with the r...

Time-Dependent Real-Space Renormalization Group Method

In this paper, using the tight-binding model, we extend the real-space renormalization group method to time-dependent Hamiltonians. We drive the time-dependent recursion relations for the renormalized tight-binding Hamiltonian by decimating selective sites of lattice iteratively. The formalism is then used for the calculation of the local density of electronic states for a one dimensional quant...

Density of states and magnetic susceptibilities on the octagonal tiling

We study electronic properties as a function of the six types of local environments found in the octagonal tiling. The density of states has six characteristic forms, although the detailed structure differs from site to site since no two sites are equivalent in a quasiperiodic tiling. We present the site-dependent magnetic susceptibility of electrons on this tiling, which also has six character...

Electronic Spectrum of a 2D Quasi-Crystal Related to the Octagonal Quasi-Periodic Tiling

Recently, a tiling derived from the well-known 2D quasi-periodic octagonal tiling has been introduced. In this letter, we show that in the framework of a tight-binding model, the electronic spectrum of this nontrivial tiling can be derived. The integrated density of state is singular and can be a devil staircase, there can be a finite or infinite number of gaps, whereas the measure of the spect...

A NUMERICAL RENORMALIZATION GROUP APPROACH FOR AN ELECTRON-PHONON INTERACTION

A finite chain calculation in terms of Hubbard X-operators is explored by setting up a vibronic Harniltonian. The model conveniently transformed into a form so that in the case of strong coupling a numerical renormalization group approach is applicable. To test the technique, a one particle Green function is calculated for the model Harniltonian
